Intel Core 2 Duo!
Israeli Innovation
Headlines are being made because the world’s largest chipmaker launched Intel Core 2 Duo processors last month. They will systematically be installed in consumer, business and laptop personal computers.
"The Core 2 Duo processors are simply the best in the world", says Paul Otellini, Intel’s CEO. "Not since Itel introduced the Pentium has the industry seen the heart of the computer reinvented like this."
With international corporations such as Intel, Hewlett-Packard and Phillips all hosting R & D facilities, and many being connected to the Technion, Israel’s major science and engineering school, Yitshak Speloig, president of the Haifa institution, doesn’t believe military conflict will affect their decisions to operate there.
"They are more concerned on a business level about competition from China and India. I don’t believe the political situation will have an affect, and besides, it’s too early to tell."
Meanwhile, as Intel builds a new production facility in (undisclosed location), which will add to its existing one at that location and its R & D facilities in Jerusalem and Yakum, the Haifa unit continues to turn out innovations.
"Tens of thousands of businesses will sell computers or components based on these processors, " the company said.
Code named "Conroe" for the desktop architecture and "Meron" for laptops, the new processors use the also Haifa-developed 65-nanometer silicon process technology, and are believed to provide a 40% increase in performance at 40% greater energy efficiency.
The new family of products consists of five desktop PC processors tailored for business, home users and enthusiasts such as high-end gamers, and five mobile PC processors designed to suit a mobile lifestyle.

Hi Evelyn,
thanks for your comments in my space. I appreciate you taking time to visit. You are always welcome. I will certainly look out for any castles in my area and duly take photos of them. I might have some already. As I\’m from the North of England, many of the castles / stately homes in the area are already featured in your albums. I\’ll take a look at what I have, and get back to you.
Love & Laughter to you,
Steve
