Sanctuary in Staffordshire

There are a select number of genuine castle hotels across England that I have recommended over the years but it isn’t often you will find a sanctuary paradise such as Hoar Cross Hall Hotel and Healthspa Resort. Not only does the venue offer accommodations but also many luxurious amenities and features abound to make your stay memorable and keep you in good spirits and good health. There are few such fine venues which offer the level of service and elegance in England at these rates ! If you are chasing after castles in Staffordshire this will be a grand reward to your efforts each day.

Located just north of Yoxall village on Maker Lane, this Elizabethan beauty sits between Burton-upon-Trent and the edge of Cannock Chase which makes it the most convenient area to stay when you’re visiting Ashby-de-la-Zouch,Tamworth and Tutbury Castles or Hawkesyard and Dunstall Halls. It’s also very close to Lichfield. The original part of this mansion was built circa 1860 and is a listed residence with additions making it an oasis to any athlete or health conscious person. It was converted to a four star hotel in the 20th century and now additionally houses spa facilities that include saltwater pools, hydrotherapy baths along with advanced aqua detox facilities with the spa’s successful philosophy on water-based treatments. They offer over eighty different treatments by fully qualified therapists- whether body massage or facial treatments- with or without the holistic approach to energizing, relaxation or beautifying. A full service beauty salon is also available and a full line of spa and beauty products to buy and use at your leisure.

In their fully equipped gym you can work out to your own routine with large defined areas for cardio exercise or you may partake of a full fitness assessment and planned routine by the friendly gym and fitness staff. More opportunities for physical exercise await you outside with over 100 acres of woodlands and formal gardens to walk or bicycle and a golf academy is located on the grounds with a covered driving range so even if you’ve never played golf, the chance to learn is now at hand. Tennis courts along with more organized activities such as croquet, boules and various different golf practice areas are readily available. Don’t forget that Cannock Chase Country Park is close at hand to venture into as well.

An a` la carte dining hall offers breakfast, lunch and dinner items so you may eat a wide array of foods at your convenience. Corporate and special events are also possible with prior arrangements, of course.

Outside Stafford, on the edge of Acton Trussel village, just off of Lower Penkridge Road, you’ll find an impressively restored oak-beamed and moated manor house appropriately named The Moat House which offers 41 bedrooms, 9 of them being luxury suites with the flexibility of family rooms, exceptional in relaxation and comfort. In addition to accommodation they offer wedding, event and conference facilities, along with a 2 AA Rosette restaurant, The Conservatory, which has won awards for their cuisine. The pub reflects its historical significance with exposed beams and a later inglenook fireplace. For business conferences they offer no less than seven meeting rooms which includes one suite.
The Moat House is convenient to Alton Towers, Shugborough Hall and Cannock Chase Country Park and also offers a corporate event field fully equipped for most English leisure activities. Uttoxeter horse racecourse is not far and you’ll find that this hotel is the most convenient spot for most of the castle visiting you embark on during your stay in Staffordshire. It is a four-star delight with surprise amenities around each corner.
