Judgment or Imagination?

Mark Twain is said to have quoted:

     “You can’t depend on your judgment when your imagination is out of focus.”

Even though I have often admired the writings of Mark Twain, occasionally I have come across quotes like this and if he made them verbal it’s quite possible that he would get them twisted. I tend to think that he must have meant that you can’t depend on your imagination when your judgment is out of focus because it just makes more sense. At least, it does to me. What do you think ?

    What Mark Twain said makes sense to me. We make rational decisions based on our judgment. When our imagination is out of focus then we are not seeing the facts; that’s when we cannot depend on our judgment.

      Oh Richard ! That is absolutely brilliant. We actually agree you know. The most interesting part is that you helped me see another aspect of what Twain said (or wrote) which tends to agree with our perspective- we agree you know. I’m not sure what view or perception I have of imagination but I believe I have more respect for the word now. ; )
